Gay on the Range - More Pulp Paperback Artwork

Last week I shared with you a little site called Strange Sisters that collects pulp lesbian paperback artwork from the 50s and 60s. Exploitive, exhibitionistic, and sometimes embarrassingly distasteful, they’re also beautifully campy.

Well, it turns out the sisters have an equally strange web-sibling over at Gay on the Range, which collects (you guessed it) pulp gay paperback artwork from the 50s and 60s. Once again, the titles are often ridiculously rude, but they are a product of the times in which they were written.

You can check out the full archive over at the Gay on the Range site, but some of my campy transgender favourites are below:

If nothing else, it's another interesting glimpse into our literary past, and one that many contemporary readers were never exposed to (short of uncovering a few dog-eared copies in that locked chest beneath the stairs, that is).
